The morning sky stood before me, and I stopped to take in as much of its beautiful array as possible. Thoughts of the Lord’s faithfulness and His constant presence flooded my mind.
God doesn’t hit the “snooze” button in the morning. He does not forget to present the rising sun, the golden moon, and the twinkling stars. The Almighty God of heaven and earth is on His throne, watching over every detail of His creation.
Yet, there are moments in the day when I become fearful and anxious. I have doubts and worries. When will this happen? How will we handle that situation? Too many “what if” questions flood my weary mind.
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable.
- Isaiah 40:28 (ESV)
My husband took this beautiful sunrise picture a few days ago. The sky was ablaze that morning, and we were in awe. However, something else also caught my attention.
Do you see the thread winding up through the sky? The clouds are arranged like a puffy comforter, yet a single strand meanders across the morning splendor. This is called a contrail. It is a high-altitude trail of condensed water from an aircraft or rocket, seen as a white streak against the sky.
That vapor trail would soon disappear from the sky. However, God’s infinite wisdom and understanding endure from eternity past to eternity future—there is no beginning and no end. I paused, and my thoughts began to ponder God's attributes. He is omnipresent and omniscient. He always watches over you and me. He is our source of strength, courage, and endurance.
Once again, the Lord reminded me that He is everlasting—the eternal God, the Alpha and Omega. As I stood atop the hill behind our house, He impressed upon me the majesty and beauty of His creation. The sunrise is God’s gift to us. It is never late, and God doesn’t miss a single morning. His faithfulness and mercies are new each day.
Head to Heart
Every morning, pause for a few moments and praise the Lord for three things in your life. Ask the Lord to reveal new aspects of His infinite beauty and holy character.
Have you not known? Lord, I confess there is so much I do not know about You. Forgive me for keeping my relationship with You in a small box.
Have you not heard? Father, I often close my ears to Your instruction, guidance, and wisdom. Please forgive me for my disobedience. I ask You to open my ears and mind to hear Your words for me today.
His understanding is unsearchable. Bow your head in prayer and accept God’s invitation to know Him more deeply.
Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand His decisions and His ways!
