Ministering Spirits

Season 23: Angelology

SHOW NOTES:

Angels were created by God before the physical universe and the earth were made. They are His messengers, and Jesus affirmed their existence when He was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matt. 26).

For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him.
- Colossians 1:16

Jesus is superior to the angels. They are His ministering spirits, and have been sent by Him to serve.

So, He became as much superior to the angels as the name He has inherited is superior to theirs. For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are My Son, today I have begotten You”? And again, when He brings the firstborn into the world, He says, “Let all God’s angels worship Him.” Of the angels He says, “He makes His angels winds, and His ministers a flame of fire.”

Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
-
Hebrews 1:4-7, 14

HEAD TO HEART:

Even though we are not sure how angels are “ministering spirits who are “sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation,” God’s Word tells us this is true.

Believers (each of us) are somehow ministered to by angels! We should be thankful and praise the Lord for His provision of angels who minister and watch over us.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
- Psalm 91:1, 11
